Pre-Montessori

Mount Anville Pre-Montessori Class will be run according to Montessori philosophy and will offer the child an environment where their motor coordination, independence, social skills and language are cultivated. It will be a nurturing environment where young children will experience their first structured contact with other children, providing a bridge between the home and school environment.

The Pre-Montessori Class will be open to children, both boys and girls, from the age of 2 years 6months.  It will offer the children the opportunity to participate in a large variety of lessons and activities, all following the Montessori principles.

The environment will be prepared to enable the child work to develop their independence and to participate in the social community. The main developmental needs of this age group are:

Co ordination and control of movement
Language acquisition and development
Development of independence
Socialisation

Everything in the Pre-Montessori environment will be designed to nurture the child and cater for their physical, intellectual and spiritual needs.
The lessons in the Pre-Montessori will be developmentally appropriate for both the children’s age and ability level. There will be age-appropriate, interesting activities available to channel their energy in creative ways and allow their developmental needs to be met.

Arts and crafts activities will be chosen carefully so that they are age appropriate, enjoyable and will teach the children specific skills.

The activities offered and routine followed in the Pre-Montessori Class will prepare the children for the transition into the 3-6 environments in Mount Anville Montessori Junior School.

Please note children entering the Pre-Montessori Class must be toilet trained.

9.00am Circle

9.30am Work with the pre-montessori materials

11am Snack

11.30am Outdoor Play in a purpose built playground

12.00 Arts and Crafts / Music/ Movement

12.30pm Home time
